According to Vélez, a load of 125 sacks of 60 kilograms goes for two million pesos (about 510 dollars).
Through his Twitter profile, he explained that the price of coffee in the United States and the world has shown an upward dynamic to which is added the devaluation of the Colombian peso that has led to a price of the grain internally at historic levels.
Those prices are excellent for more than 540,000 families that work in the coffee industry, added Vélez.
He recalled that coffee growing is an activity that had been stagnated in terms of profitability for the past 15 years, so it is also good news for the coffee growing areas and for the Colombian economy.
Colombia is the third largest coffee producing country and the largest producer of mild coffee in the world and its most important markets are the United States, Germany, Japan, the Netherlands and Sweden.
