The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MIREX) hailed Angola’s election on Wednesday during the general conference of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), which is in session in France.
During the mandate for the 2022-2026 period, Angola plans to contribute more actively to the implementation of the continental education strategy, aligned with international purposes in favor of an inclusive, fair and quality education, the source stated.
For such purposes, MIREX explained, Luanda will support the existing cooperation between UNESCO and the African Union, which is particularly relevant in the current context of Covid-19.
Upon submitting the candidacy to UNESCO, the Angolan State made clear the great importance it attaches to that institution and the willingness to support projects related to gender equality and the fulfillment of the United Nations Agenda 2030 and the African Union Agenda 2063, MIREX stated.
