The process includes granting amnesty to all fugitives and military deserters who surrender their weapons to the authorities.
The initiative has been welcomed by the local people who saw hundreds of fugitives coming to the amnesty centers set up throughout the province on the first day of the process, Deir Ezzor Governor Fadel Najar said.
A similar process was applied in the province of Deraa in the south of the country where almost eight thousand citizens among armed, wanted and deserters who voluntarily surrendered their weapons were pardoned.
The Syrian Army implements policies based on reconciliation to recover normality and return state institutions without resorting to military operations that could cause material losses and claim human lives.
