Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Wang Wenbin told Prensa Latina that his Government supports Cuba in finding a development path in keeping with its own conditions and to improve the people’s welfare.
China, he assured, opposes the US trick to impose sanctions and interfere in purely internal issues of other countries under the pretext of freedom, human rights and democracy.
The spokesperson urged Washington to handle bilateral relations with Havana in accordance with the United Nations Charter and global regulations, listen to the international community, and immediately and fully lift the blockade.
Such a coercive policy is considered the main cause of the shortages and the obstacle for the development in Cuba, but the United States keeps it in force and tightens it, despite the international community has voted on in favor of ending it for 29 consecutive years.
With Wang’s statements, China joins several nations and organizations globally that repudiate the subversive acts, demonstrations and calls for intervention in Cuba.
