Former Uruguayan vice president reaffirms solidarity with Cuba

Montevideo, Nov 10 (Prensa Latina) Former Uruguayan Vice President Raul Sendic affirmed today that any aggression against Cuba is against all the peoples of Latin America, which throughout time have also shown its solidarity.

“Uruguay has a long history of solidarity with Cuba, from whom we also receive it whenever we need it,” Sendic told Prensa Latina.

Sendic criticized the U.S. empire that in different parts of the world applied the recipe of instigating internal discontent against a legitimate government, “it did it in some countries of the East and in our continent”.

The Frente Amplio activist recalled Washington’s permanent hostility agaisnt the Island for more than 60 years, through acts of sabotage, blockade, bacteriological warfare and attacks,

He urged the governments of the continent to defend the self-determination of the peoples and non-interference, and not to back up the show that is intended to be staged in a few days.

“In this difficult moment of pandemic, the only way to support the people and Cuban government is to express our solidarity and to demand the lifting of the cruel and inhumane blockade which is the main violation to the Human Rights”, he stated

Closely acquainted with the situation of the besieged Caribbean country, he expressed full confidence that the planned provocation will not succeed because, he said, “I know that there is enough moral strength to overcome difficulties”.

For the Uruguayan leftist politician “the problems are undeniable, but just as there is courage to recognize them, there is also will to solve them and move forward”.
