Cuba, UNESCO agree on significant international cooperation

Paris, Nov 10 (Prensa Latina) Cuba's Education Minister Ena Elsa Velázquez and UNESCO's Deputy Director for Education Stefania Giannini praised the significance of an international cooperation ahead of humanity's challenges.

During a meeting held in Paris, ahead of the 1st day of the UNESCO 41st General Conference, both officials agreed to highlight the important collaboration to fight the Covid-19 pandemic.

Both officials tackled down on implementing the Sustainable Development Goal 4 of the UN 2030 Agenda. It is aimed at guaranteeing inclusive, equitable and quality education, a goal for which cooperation and promotion are key factors.

The Cuban minister told Ms. Giannini about actions taken by Cuba to the new school year in the face of the health crisis and recognized UNESCO-promoted initiatives in such a complex stage, in order to prevent children on a global scale were marginalized from education. Ms. Velázquez addressed some Cuban measures for in-person teaching, including that all students must be vaccinated by mid-November.
