According to Julio César Avilés, head of the Army in the Central American nation, this November 7 the elections passed calmly and without any incidents and detailed that over 15 thousand troops accompanied the transfer of material and ballots.
On his part, the director of the National Police, Francisco Díaz, also underlined the massiveness and normality of the elections and expressed that this Sunday’s vote symbolizes dignity, independence, self-determination, progress, prosperity and more victories.
The current president Daniel Ortega, candidate for the country’s top leadership for the Sandinista National Liberation Front (FSLN), alluded to the restoration of peace, after the coup attempt in 2018, and to the Constitution as a legitimate instrument in the selection of authorities nationals.
In his opinion, they managed to put an end to terrorism, restore stability and advance the well-being and progress of Nicaraguan families and mentioned the confrontation with the Covid-19 pandemic with formulations from countries such as India, Cuba and Russia.
