Positive opinion on Cuba’s Covid-19 booster vaccines

Havana, Nov 7 (Prensa Latina) The Center for State Control of Medicines, Equipment and Medical Devices (Cecmed) issued a positive opinion in favor of the Cuban-made booster vaccines against Covid-19, an institutional source reported.

According to the Cuban Health Ministry’s website, Cecmed assessed the reports presented by the Finlay Vaccines Institute (IFV)and the Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (CIGB), on the Soberana® Plus and Abdala vaccines.

They presented evidence on the need to administer a booster dose, starting six months after completing the approved immunization scheme against Covid-19 in the country.

Both Institutions presented their data on the safety and capacity of the vaccines to reactivate the immune response.

The strategy for applying the booster dose will be implemented gradually and will be defined by the Health Ministry.
