Bolivian deputies warn about opposition coup actions

La Paz, Nov 7 (Prensa Latina) Bolivian deputies have rejected the call for an indefinite strike starting Monday called by right-wing sectors in an attempt to reissue the Nov. 2019 coup, the local press reported.

Such a coup broke out with small strikes and a national one, overthrowing a legally and democratically elected government, Deputy Héctor Arce told the Bolivian News Agency.

“As in 2019, same actors repeat the same script to plot against a constitutional and democratically elected government,” Arce added.

The Bolivian deputy said that ahead of these repeated actions of conspiracy “we have our own means, organization and coordination mechanisms, within a similar framework of the right to protest, to defend our Government.”

Arce blamed opposition parliamentarians who implemented the same attrition actions on constitutional authorities.

The President of the Chamber of Deputies Freddy Mamani, on the other hand, said there is a clear intention to destabilize the Government, just as they did in 2019.

Another deputy opposing the strike, Ányelo Céspedes, condemned the Santa Cruz Civic Committee, headed by Gov. Luis Fernando Camacho, “who continues in his attempt to conduct a second coup,” he warned.
