Second Business Forum to encourage foreign trade

Havana, Nov 5 (Prensa Latina) The 2nd edition of the Cuba 2021 Business Forum will encourage commercial activity from the state entities and the new forms of management, called to be the object of foreign investment in the country.

The idea is to promote the exchange between all sectors of the Cuban economy, included the new micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) with foreign entrepreneurs, Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment Minister Rodrigo Malmierca said when he announced the event.

For a second consecutive year and replacing the Havana International Fair due to the Covid-19 pandemic, this event will be held virtually from November 29 to December 2, along with an exhibition fair that will allow to showcase products and services through the event’s digital platform.

Malmierca highlighted that the joining of emerging MSMEs to this event will result in the effort to promote foreign trade activity not only from the state entities.

The Forum’s agenda includes a keynote speech by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Planning, Alejandro Gil, about the transformations in the Cuban economy and the progress of the implementation of the development plan until 2030.

During the event, the new portfolio of business opportunities with foreign investment will be presented, which for the first time includes projects from all provinces and smaller in terms of capital to be invested, due to the importance for the territorial development.

A panel about the effects caused by the tightening of the US blockade and the opportunities in tourism, the biopharmaceutical, food and energy industries, as well as the Mariel Special Development Zone, is also expected.
