Iran on the path to nuclear fuel self-sufficiency

nuclear
Tehran, Nov 5 (Prensa Latina) Iran has managed to move closer to fuel self-sufficiency to keep its nuclear power plants in operation by almost doubling its reserve of enriched uranium.

The head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, Mohammad Eslami, explained that the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) forced Iran to produce 120 kg of enriched uranium at 20 percent purity.

The approval by the Iranian Parliament of the Strategic Action law to lift US sanctions, however, led to a move beyond what was expected.

There is by no means a purpose of making weapons, even if it is the favorite argument of the United States and the West to condemn Iran, Eslami said.

The importance of such an achievement by Iranian science is to show that it can produce all kinds of fuels as long as it does not transcend limits set by the UN International Atomic Energy Agency.
