In the letter, to which Prensa Latina had access through the kindness by the director of the documentary “Herencia” (Inheritance), about Cuban roots, Hurtado detailed that daily demonstrations have taken place in front of the Cuban Consulate for seven months.”
In the text, addressed to Joan Ignasi Elena Garcia, Minister of the Interior of the Generalitat de Catalunya, the filmmaker assured that death threats, hate messages, insults, humiliations, affronts, and all kinds of offenses against the Cuban officials and diplomats are expressed against the consular facility during this period.
“These events, which are of public knowledge, ignore that these officials develop a life, they have a home, families with minor children who have been left in a situation of vulnerability,” she pointed out.
The young filmmaker demanded in her letter to put an end to these provocations and comply with the agreements of international conventions and national legal regulations, “in view of the modesty as a citizen for the treatment these officials are receiving.”
