Iran insists on US guarantees about nuclear deal

Saeed Khatibzadeh
Tehran, Nov 2 (Prensa Latina) Iran on Tuesday insisted on the guarantees the United States must assume to revive the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) or nuclear deal, which Washington abandoned in May 2018.

In a message on social media, Foreign Ministry spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh stated that President Joe Biden must ensure to lift the anti-Iranian sanctions and return without future changes to the deal sealed in 2015.

The removal of the maximum pressure policy against Tehran, designed by his predecessor Donald Trump, requires guarantees that it will not return, he said.

Khatibzadeh referred to a message by Republican Senator Ted Cruz, who admitted that the US Governments are disobedient.

Iran and the JCPOA signatories (the United Kingdom, France, Russia and China plus Germany) held six rounds of dialogue in Vienna, Austria, to seek how the United States returns to the multilateral pact.

Tehran has repeatedly stated that it will return to the JCPOA principles, if the other signatories do so.
