“The parties discussed Russian-US relations”, the Russian entity reported, according to TASS news agency.
This is the first meeting between Patrushev and Burns since the latter was appointed head of the CIA. They had spoken before in 2013, when the Russian official traveled to Washington and Burns was acting secretary of state.
On the other hand, Patrushev maintains regular contacts with National Security advisor to the president of the United States, Jake Sullivan, with whom he has had six telephone conversations and one meeting in person so far this year.
Burns was ambassador to this country from 2005 to 2008 and in March this year he became the first career diplomat appointed to run the CIA.
