During the meeting -called by Bolivian President Luis Arce, in his capacity as Coordinator of the Like-Minded Group of Developing Countries (LMDC)- Ms. Pérez argued that eliminating carbon emission by 2050 and other goals being imposed out of the 2015 Paris Agreement may affect those nations that are not precisely responsible for climate change. Ms. Pérez added that developing countries must champion their right to develop economically and at the same time to shield the wholeplanet, but always under the principle that commitments are in harmony with their plans and national circumstances.
She also rejected the implementation of unilateral measures, in particular those implying the exclusion or limitation of countries when it comes to receiving international funds and support to fight climate change.
