Russia to modernize its air defense against NATO actions

Moscow, Nov 1 (Prensa Latina) Russian President Vladimir Putin urged to continue modernizing aerospace defense, given the increase in flights by the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) near the country's borders.

At a meeting with senior officials from the Ministry of Defense and representatives of the sector in the city of Sochi, the president noted that “the appearance of ships of the Atlantic Alliance armed with guided missiles in the Baltic and Black Seas” is another important factor.

According to Putin, the modernized aerospace defense system must detect hypersonic and ballistic missiles of all kinds and at great distances, and destroy them at any stretch of their flight path, the Kremlin’s official website reported.

The head of State demanded a greater rate of development of Russian naval aviation with more advanced aircraft and better air weapons, in line with the increase experienced by the armed forces of other countries.

“Considering the increase in the naval forces of foreign States by supplying modern nuclear submarines, aircraft carriers, battleships and unmanned ships, we need to develop naval aviation at a faster rate,” Putin said.
