The advantages of using protein plants in the diet of those animals, treatments for turkey diseases, improvements in feeders and drinkers for winged birds, and the correct preservation of eggs for their commercialization were among the outstanding texts presented.
In an interview with Prensa Latina, Yodany Real, national development specialist in the sector, pointed out they are working to recover an activity, which has been greatly affected by the US blockade policy and the current economic situation in the world caused by Covid-19.
‘Our companies suffered losses and deterioration in the production of eggs and meat. Based on indications from the Central Government, we are directing our work with new technologies and the potentiality of each entity, the latter focused on greater organization and planning,’ the expert said.
The issue of animal feed, the specialist added, ‘in any Cuban productive activity is complex due to the US blockade; hence, the country’s policy of establishing new guidelines and mechanisms, and using approved technology to achieve an increase in egg and meat production.’
Real described today’s event as an excellent opportunity to exchange experiences, establish new ties and demonstrate the strength and solutions to practical daily problems in the industry.
The encounter, which was attended by a hundred managers, professionals and technicians of the sector in Matanzas, included a workshop for private producers, and gastronomic and handicraft exhibitions. The Matanzas poultry company has about twenty units, half of them producers, and another two dedicated to animal reproduction, and its capacity to stock, at present, is of 120 million postures per year.
