Cuba recalls revolutionary leader Camilo Cienfuegos

Havana, Oct 28 (Prensa Latina) Cuban Prime Minister Manuel Marrero on Thursday recalled revolutionary leader Camilo Cienfuegos on the 62nd anniversary of his death in a plane crash.

On Twitter, the prime minister wrote: Every#28OfOctober#Cuba pays tribute to #CamiloCienfuegos, the Hero of Yaguajay, the Vanguard Lord, the hero with the wide-brimmed hat and the confident smile.

He left us his memory, his example. As #Fidel (Castro) put it: There are many Camilos in the people. #CamiloLives #WeAreContinuity, he added.

For his part, Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez evoked Cienfuegos’s example and faithfulness, and highlighted he agrees with his conviction that ‘the Cuban people’s support to the Revolution is today and will always be as high as the invincible Turquino Peak.’

Furthermore, on its webpage, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs paid tribute to this revolutionary hero with a Fidel Castro’s phrase: ‘Camilo was a man who loved difficult tasks; we could say he was a man who loved hardships, who knew how to face them and was capable of performing feats in the most incredible circumstances.’

Camilo Cienfuegos Gorriaran (1932-1959) was one of the most paradigmatic personalities of the Cuban Revolution along with Fidel Castro, Ernesto Che Guevara, Raul Castro and Juan Almeida.

His death at the dawn of the process of transformations started in Cuba in 1959 shocked Cuban people, who pay tribute to him every year by throwing flowers into the sea.
