The 76th Session Chair Abdulla Shahid claimed he hopes to achieve such a purpose because he strongly believes in science, in addition to having the capacity, will and resources to work together and halt the climate change crisis.
Speaking at a high-level meeting to take steps on climate action for people, world and prosperity, Abdulla stated that even though slackening continues, the global scope of Member States´s works and efforts increases dramatically.
Abdulla also stressed that today’s meeting will not solve climate change issues, but showed his conviction that climate action will.
‘We owe it to them, not only as future heirs of our planet, but perhaps as our best hope. We owe it to women and girls, who are disproportionately affected by climate change and are less represented in the former line of climate negotiations,’ he said.
