The Egyptian Foreign Ministry criticized the announcement made by the Israeli authorities and warned that the new plan is yet another blow against the creation of a future Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
A statement from the Ministry highlighted that the Jewish settlements on the West Bank are illegal under international law and UN Security Council resolutions.
The Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Relations spoke in similar terms, strongly condemning Israel’s decision.
‘This is an illegal policy that undermines efforts to achieve a two-state solution and any steps towards peace,’ he said.
The Arab League also denounced the new expansionist program, which it described as a crime against the Palestinians.
It warned that these plans aim to Judaize the occupied Palestinian territories, including Jerusalem, to bury any hope or possibility for a just solution to the conflict, and called on the international community to pressure Israel and assume its responsibilities.
