Joe Biden unveils new international Covid-19 travel requirements

Washington, Oct 25 (Prensa Latina) The Joe Biden administration on Monday released updated guidelines for traveling into the United States, starting on Nov. 8, including stricter requirements on U.S. citizens who have not been vaccinated against Covid-19 as well as some exceptions for foreign travelers.

Unvaccinated US citizens and long-term residents will have to present a negative PCR test taken a day before re-entering the country.

According to the White House, the list of exemptions is ‘very limited’ and includes those under 18, as well as people coming from countries with vaccination rates under 10%.

Other exceptions include those with certain medical conditions, participants in clinical trials and those who travel on short notice for both humanitarian and emergency reasons.

One of the drawbacks is that they will only accept those who have received vaccine doses authorized by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and those that are also on the World Health Organization’s emergency use list.

On Monday, President Joe Biden signed an executive order lifting travel restrictions for European countries in the Schengen area, as well as the United Kingdom, Ireland, Brazil, China, Iran, South Africa and India.
