‘We have a Russian base in Kant (Chui region). We have enough with one base,’ the president told the press in this capital, when asked about the issue.
‘We do not want to play ‘cat and mouse’ with influential countries, hosting two bases,’ the head of State explained as he recalled that the US facility in that Central Asian nation was closed in 2014.
According to TASS news agency, Washington’s military base opened at Manas airport in this capital in 2001, with the aim of supporting ‘Enduring Freedom’ Operation in Afghanistan.
Military and combat vehicles from the countries that participated in the occupation of that country were stationed at that facility, as well as a large number of US troops.
After eight years the place became a transit center and in the summer of 2014 it was closed at the request of Kyrgyz authorities.
