DPRK accuses US of increasing military tensions with China

Pyongyang, Oct 23 (Prensa Latina) The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) accused the United States on Saturday of increasing military tensions with China by supporting Taiwan, whose sovereignty China claims.

DPRK Deputy Foreign Minister Pak Myong Ho criticized Joe Biden’s administration for sending warships across the Taiwan Strait and providing the territory with improved weapons systems and military training.

In this sense, Pak recalled that this year alone, the United States has sent all kinds of battleships under the pretext of ‘freedom of navigation,’ and announced its plan to sell weapons to Taiwan worth 750 million dollars.

The blunt meddling of the United States in matters related to Taiwan threatens to trigger a delicate situation on the Korean peninsula, said the official, who was quoted by the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA).

Pak’s statement came a day after President Biden said the United States was committed to coming to the defense of Taiwan if it is attacked by Beijing.
