At an appearance on Cuban television, the head of the National Pediatrics Group, Lissette Lopez, said that, due to the work of pediatricians and neonatologists, the death toll in this population segment has decreased.
Some 256 new children infected with the coronavirus were reported on Friday, and the total number of pediatric cases amounted to 1,800, lower numbers than the peaks in the past months, Lopez said.
She added that two patients are in a serious state and one is in a critical one.
Lopez said that morbidity has also decreased as less children are being hospitalized, where global survival is 99.9 percent, and survival in intensive care units is 99.5 percent.
She hailed that over a million children have already received two Covid-19 shots, and parents must look after them so that they do not get infected and can complete the vaccination schedule.
The best diploma for a Cuban child is receiving the three Covid-19 doses, in the first country of the world where the bold pediatric vaccination campaign was materialized, the expert said.
