Cuba, Costa Rica hold talks for safe migration

Havana, Oct 21 (Prensa Latina) Cuba's and Costa Rica's representatives will participate today online at the 2nd Round of Migration Talks, to analyze problems of mutual interest and develop mechanisms that contribute to regular, orderly and safe migration.

The delegations will be chaired by Ernesto Soberon, director of Consular Affairs and Cubans Resident Abroad at the Havana Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Daguer Hernandez, deputy director general of Costa Rica’s Migration and Foreign Affairs.

As reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Havana, the meeting will also allow projecting strategies to fight against human trafficking and illegal smuggling of migrants.

In 2017, officials from both countries held the 1st Round of Migration Talks in San Jose, and in 2018, they signed an agreement to ensure regular, orderly and safe flows, as well as to enhance cooperation in the area.
