UNESCO announces intense agenda for its General Conference

Paris, Oct 20 (Prensa Latina) UNESCO announced cultural policies, the future of education and ethics in science among the topics of the 41st General Conference of UNESCO, scheduled for November 9th to 24th.

The entity issued a statement specifying that the forum will be the stage of the presentation of recommendations and reports that generate global expectations, of the delivery of important prizes and of debates on issues of interest to its 193 member states.

The Conference will elect its president on the morning of November 9th, and its new director general on the afternoon of the same day, who will then take office in a special session on November 22nd.

A few days ago, the Executive Council, another of UNESCO’s governing bodies, proposed the renewal in the position of Audrey Azoulay.

According to the entity, on November 12th there will be an exceptional ceremony for the 75th anniversary of its creation, an event in which a number of Heads of State and Government, as well as internationally famous artists, will participate.

Regarding the recommendations that he hopes to launch, he mentioned those related to the ethics of artificial intelligence and open science, the latter focused on facilitating global cooperation and universal access to scientific knowledge. The General Conference will also allow the presentation of the Report on the Futures of Education, on November 10th, prepared by an independent commission of experts.

In the field of culture, it is expected that the member states will approve holding of the UNESCO Conference on Cultural Policies and Sustainable Development (Mondialcult 2022), to be held in Mexico City from September 28th to 30th next year.
