Dalmau Ramírez, who gave a boost to the political community in the November 2016 elections, has been recognized by the president Rubén Berrios Martínez as the ‘shining leader’ of the new generation of fighters for Puerto Rico’s self-determination.
In fact, Ramírez, who was a candidate for governor for the PIP, has managed to reach the people as no pro-independence leader could for years.
‘We are celebrating these 75 years not only to honor those who have been part of a consistent and clean struggle in favor of the right to our national independence for decades, but also within the framework of the largest electoral growth in the history of our Party,’ Dalmau Ramírez said to journalists.
Accompanied by a new generation of PIP leaders, including national legislators María de Lourdes Santiago and Denis Márquez Lebrón, he said that the political community will carry out a series of commemorative activities beginning on Wednesday.
He regretted that due to the Covid-19 pandemic they had to postpone two massive events to an upcoming date ‘so as not to put anyone’s health at risk.’
The PIP has launched the commemorative magazine ’75 Años Rumbo a la Libertad’ (’75 Years Bound For Freedom’), which includes, among other things, a set of 11 articles, which offer a historical overview of the contribution of the PIP to the struggle for national independence and the country in social, legislative and electoral terms, among other aspects.
