Slovenia’s Foreign Minister Anze Logar addressed the issue this Wednesday. That nation holds the rotating chair of the EU until the end of the year.
Logar said that the participants in the event hope to discuss what could help reduce Europe’s dependence on fossil fuels in short, mid and long term.
For her part, German Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission (EC), stressed that the bloc buys abroad almost all the oil and gas it consumes.
As for oil, Russia, Iraq, Nigeria and Saudi Arabia supply 50 percent of the EU bloc’s demand.
