The announcement was made by Cuban ambassador Andres Gonzalez when visiting the Minister of Education, Dinesh Gunawardane, the Daily Mirror newspaper reported.
According to the statement, the Cuban diplomat said that Cuba manufactures medicinal capsules and powder from this species.
Gonzalez pointed out that this technology could be offered to Sri Lanka, where it is extensively grown.
According to the Cuban official, promoting exchanges between the respective universities would also be beneficial for both countries.
Meanwhile, Sri Lankan Minister Gunawardane requested Cuba’s collaboration to promote the teaching of the Spanish language in Sri Lanka.
