According to a statement, the second head of the Cuban diplomatic mission participated this week in the l’Humanité Festival in the city of Toulouse, a traditional celebration in which he showed Cuba’s achievements in the fight against Covid-19, despite the obstacle posed by Washington’s economic, commercial and financial blockade.
Victorio referred in particular to the progress being made in the immunization campaign with Cuban-made vaccines, as a result of which more than 60 percent of the population has been vaccinated.
The Donald Trump administration (2017-2021) intensified the blockade by enforcing 243 measures against Cuba, 50 of those actions dictated in the middle of the pandemic and all of which have been maintained by his successor in the White House, President Joe Biden.
Victorio expressed gratitude for the support for Cuba at the l’Humanité Festival in Haute-Garonne, where he met with the national secretary of the French Communist Party and presidential candidate, Fabien Roussel.
