A WikiLeaks document reports that Geagea informed the US embassy in 2008 of the willingness of thousands of affiliates to fight the Hezbollah Islamic Resistance movement.
According to the media report, the leader of the Christian political faction asked for weapons and ammunition in order to fight the Party of God.
Al-Mayadeen repeated what was published in October 2020 by the al-Akhbar newspaper about Geagea’s request to the head of the Progressive Socialist Party, Walid Joumblatt, to join the fight against Hizbullah.
The request highlighted that the Lebanese Forces had some 15,000 members willing to fight against Hizbulah.
Jumblatt described the attempted conflict as ‘madness’, according to Al-Mayadeen.
Another leak emanating from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Saudi Arabia made known that the kingdom’s ambassador in Lebanon sought financial support for Geagea from Riyadh.
