They also reported that, shortly after the attack, a military detachment of the so-called G5 Sahel tried to capture those elements, but they managed to run away.
According to media outlets, on Saturday, police troops of the attacked facility could repel an attack by a group of armed individuals.
In recent times, Niger and other nations from the Sahel region have been attacked by radical groups such as the Islamic State in the Greater Sahara and Boko Haram, the latter based in the Nigerian northern Borno state.
