The National Health Commission called on people to be alert because northern and southern regions are reporting a rise in patients with the flu in the past few weeks, and the country has reported more imported Covid-19 cases with different strains of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus.
According to the commission, the situation would bring about much uncertainty as temperatures drop, and, therefore, local governments must proceed with anti-flu vaccination of mainly vulnerable groups such as children, elderly people and health workers.
It insisted in increasing information campaigns about this issue, keeping constant monitoring and taking immediate action to prevent infection outbreaks, especially in schools.
Besides record rainfall, this fall China is having very low temperatures. For example, Beijing on Sunday reported temperatures below zero, the lowest ones in 52 years. On Friday, the national weather department issued an alert due to the arrival of the first cold front of the season in most of China.
