Despite the lockdown measures activated in almost all the national territory due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the country will fulfill the goal of loading 6.3 million tons of the grain in 2021, Food Association executives stated.
Foreign sales had a strong reaction in the last few months; they amounted to 4.57 million tons at the end of September, worth 2.41 billion dollars. They should reach 3.2 billion dollars by late 2021.
The news was pleased in the Philippines, the world’s largest buyer of Vietnamese rice, with almost 48 percent of the total volume, as well as in Ghana, China, Australia and other countries whose imports have considerably increased in the last few years.
Vietnam is also committed to meeting the requirements of such demanding markets, such as the European Union (EU), South Korea and the United States, raising the grain’s added value.
