A note sent by the presidential office states that Aoun summoned Prime Minister Najib Mikati, and the Ministers of Defense Maurice Slim and Interior Bassam Mawlawi and Army Chief Joseph Aoun.
The most recent reports indicate that at least one person died and eight others were wounded during a shootout in Tayouneh (a.k.a. Badaro), Beirut.
The Lebanese Army cordoned off the place of the incident and asked citizens to remain calm and stay indoors.
The shooting broke out as snipers fired at a demonstration organized by Amal, Hizbulah and Marada in demand of the replacement of Judge Tarek Bitar, in charge of the investigation into the explosion in the port last year.
Hizbullah Secretary General Hassan Nasrallah had said that Bitar was leading the investigation down the wrong path.
Nasrallah accused the judge of politicizing and being selective in the process and announced that, if not replaced, the Party of God will resign from being part of the government.
