Lukashenko calls to strengthen Belarus-Venezuela ties

Minsk, Oct 8 (Prensa Latina) Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko has expressed Adan Chavez, special envoy of the Venezuelan Presidency, during a meeting in Minsk the importance of strengthening the relations between both countries, local press highlighted on Friday.

‘I want to emphasize that it is not about the sanctions imposed against Venezuela and Belarus’, but about taking advantage of the existing ties for more than two decades, the president said during a meeting held on Thursday with Chavez, who is also a vice-president for International Affairs of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV, in Spanish language).

Lukashenko assured that Minsk and Caracas make little use of the advantages established many years ago and stressed that the two nations have the means to rely on each other to face all kinds of attacks in modern conditions.

The head of State urged to develop a plan for the recovery of the relations and put it into practice in the next two or three years.

During his stay in Minsk, Chavez met with Natalia Kochanova, Chairwoman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus, and Vladimir Andreichenko, Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly.
