Cuba’s Vice President calls for prioritizing food sovereignty

Santa Clara, Cuba, Oct 8 (Prensa Latina) Cuba's Vice President Salvador Valdes called here today, in Santa Clara central city, to prioritize the program of food sovereignty and nutritional education for the people's sake.

The also member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Party, urged to raise the rhythms as something vital to meet the commitments of food production, because it is inconceivable that there are municipalities decreasing.

Valdes headed an analysis meeting on the food sovereignty and nutritional education program in the central Cuban province of Villa Clara, with the participation of agricultural executives and entrepreneurs of that territory.

Villa Clara at the end of August 2021 reached 24 pounds per capita average of food and vegetables to the population, but the Cuban vice president emphasized that it is essential to materialize the program of 30 pounds per capita.

Meanwhile, Idael Perez, Minister of Agriculture, pointed out the need to change mentalities, promote each program with our own efforts, produce and make productive linkages.

‘We cannot wait for resources to come to us, the management to be more efficient and raise productivity is the responsibility of each producer,’ Perez said.

Cuban Vice President Salvador Valdes began his tour of Villa Clara placing, this morning, a wreath at the memorial that keeps the remains of Commander Ernesto Guevara and his guerrillas on the 54th anniversary of his fall in combat in Bolivian lands.
