Forum will boost solidarity of Cuban emigrants with their country

Paris, Oct 7 (Prensa Latina) The virtual forum Poniéndole corazón a Cuba (Putting heart to Cuba) will allow boosting solidarity with the island and its emigrants in times of hard challenges, Cubans living in Europe stressed today about the event scheduled for Saturday.

In statement made to Prensa Latina, Octavio Ávila, who is living in Berlin, said that the forum is a good opportunity to share experiencies and to strengthen the support and help to the island, which has been deeply affected by the American blockade and the pandemic.

Among the initiatives we can mention the coordination with organizations in the United Kingdom and Panama to send resources and a campaign in Germany to collect medicines, explained the member of the association of Cuban residents La Estrella de Cuba.

Likewise, he said that solidarity with the besieged country has left beautiful anecdotes on German soil, such as that of a pharmacist in the city of Konstanz, who upon learning that the order was part of a donation for the Caribbean nation contributed money and medicines and expressed the criminal nature of the blockade.

Reinaldo Romero, a Cuban resident in Belgium, also stressed the importance of Saturday’s forum to strengthen the unity of Cubans.

Everything we can do for Cuba has a great value and that is what motivates us right now to work tirelessly; during the summer we have already sent two containers with medical equipment and sanitary items from Belgium and we are going for a third one that we intend to load in the first half of November, he told Prensa Latina.

In France, the National Coordinator of Cuban Residents celebrated the call for the virtual meeting and pointed out the importance of joining action in Europe and other parts of the world to help the island, both economically and in condemning the blockade.

The organization that groups several associations in France reiterated its demand for the immediate and unconditional lifting of the siege imposed by the United States for more than six decades.
