Cuba entered a phase of gradual economic recovery

Havana, Oct 7 (Prensa Latina) Cuba entered a phase of gradual economic recovery together with an effective control of Covid-19, to achieve the highest possible growth by the end of the year, said today Deputy Prime Minister Alejandro Gil.

In the last months, without being too optimistic, we see favorable conditions for a stable recovery, without ruling out the complexities created by the pandemic and the steady presence of the American Blockade, he declared.

Speaking at the inauguration of the Cuba 2021 Economic-Productive Conference, which will be held until the 28th of this month and organized by the Chamber of Commerce, Gil also said that this stage demands exceptional efforts so that the measures, transformations and policies approved by the Government are effective and contribute to this recovery.

The Minister of Economy and Planning also mentioned among these actions all those aimed at strengthening and giving more autonomy to the socialist state enterprise as the main subject of the Cuban economic model, together with other forms of management such as non-agricultural cooperatives and self-employment (private).

In this regard, he highlighted the importance of the approval of micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs), which constitutes a set of steps never before taken in the country and which will allow the country to start 2022 in a better situation, to which the opening of tourism as of November 15 will also contribute.

Gil underlined that the idea is to create a net that would gradually allow the recovery of the economy dispite the financial negative situation and the inflation we are going through. The solution, he said, lies in our ability to create more goods and services.
