Africa demands the US to end the blockade against Cuba

Havana, Oct 7 (Prensa Latina) The end of the blockade against Cuba is a demand of African countries to the United States Government former Namibia's president Sam Nujoma affirmed today.

The founding father of Namibia said so at the African Continental Virtual Event of Solidarity with Cuba, which brought together participants from numerous nations.

Arranged by the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP), the forum was inaugurated by the president of the National Assembly of People’s Power of Cuba, Esteban Lazo.

The head of the legislative body recalled the historic ties and the vital cultural contribution of Africa with Cuba, which repaid the African peoples with its internationalist work.

That same solidarity is currently expressed by Africa in its condemnation of the US blockade against Cuba, Sam Nujoma stated.

The former Namibia’s president denounced that the blockade aims to cause suffering and agony to the Cuban people and accumulates negative damages to its economy.

Therefore, he highlighted, we urge President Joe Biden to eliminate it aligned with the demands of the African countries, which are also demanding the return of the Cuban territory occupied by the United States at the Guantanamo naval air base.

Nujoma emphasized that Washington’s cruel policy intends to subvert the constitutional order in Cuba.

On the issue, the president of ICAP, Fernando Gonzalez, expressed his gratitude to the African solidarity when, he insisted, plans to destabilize Cuba are being prepared from US territory.
