According to an official release, Chung made the comment during a speech at the 15th ministerial session of the United Nations virtual Conference on Trade and Development (Untacd), where he underlined the importance to achieve a fair and equitable distribution of the vaccines against the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus.
The official also mentioned the contribution of Seoul in the anticipated market commitment of the World Health Organization’s Global Vaccine Project known as Covax, as well as in the effort to provide assistance to more than 120 countries.
Chung also called for reinforcing inclusiveness to ease inequity, which has been aggravated by the pandemic. South Korea will keep on helping the vulnerable groups, like women and part time employees, he added.
The Untacd is an international organization created by the UN to promote the interests of developing countries in world trade and investment.
