Acosta’s statement came at a press briefing in the Capitol Building in Havana, the seat of the Cuban Parliament, where he recalled the 45th anniversary of the People’s Power, established in 1976 with the approval of the Cuban socialist Constitution.
‘The People’s Power system is the cornerstone of Cuba’s democracy, a system that is based on the people, who elect their delegates at the grassroots level of the whole system,’ the official stressed.
He added that the National Assembly’s priority is the delegates’ accountability to voters, which has been suspended for two years due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Acosta stated that the Parliament and the Government are working to insert the people’s proposals into the economy’s plans.
