Local residents confirmed that small arms and heavy weapons fires took place in the Khair Khana district in Kabul, as well as two explosions, The Khaama Press reported.
The action took place some few hours after a suicide bomber detonated explosives at the Eid Gah mosque, where Taliban authorities and civilians were holding a prayer and mourning ceremony for the mother of Deputy Culture and Information Minister Zabihullah Mujahid.
Such action killed more than 10 people and wounded about 20, and so far, no group has claimed responsibility for the attack, the source stated.
Since the Taliban took control of Afghanistan in mid-August, the attacks by members of the Islamic State group have increased against them, raising the possibility of a wider conflict between the two sides.
