In a communique, Pineda, who is also a member of the Communist Party of Spain, stressed that ‘the People’s Party, center-right Ciudadanos and far-right Vox party’ should assume once and for all that the EU is against the US blockade against Cuba.

The note details the community bloc’s stance that was again reflected in a letter EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs Josep Borrell sent last week to Pineda and Communist MEP Sandra Pereira.

‘The EU’s stance is known and firm in its rejection to the US blockade in all its elements and in favor of its lifting. This has been repeatedly expressed by the EU and myself’, the text written by Borrell reads.

In another part of the letter, the diplomat added that ‘you may rest assured that both my team and I will continue to advocate for lifting the embargo in its entirety and, particularly, of its extraterritorial elements.’
