The outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic hit education as well as all sectors of society, and Cuba implemented curricular adaptations and the broadcast of more than 1,400 hours of televised classes for 23 weeks during the 2020-2021 school year.
The return to face-to-face classes for 12 grade (senior high school) students, from third and fourth year of teacher training education, and those in the third year of the technical-vocational institutions responds to the progress of immunization, with a strategy based on the vaccination of the entire school-age population before returning to the classrooms. During a tour of those educational institutions in Havana, Prensa Latina checked the conditions created for the reopening, from the methodological training of teachers to the maintenance of infrastructures, and even how the immunization of students is carried out in the educational centers themselves.
During the next 19 weeks, more than 29,000 students will receive a systematization of the contents and new subjects, while the last three weeks will be devoted to evaluating the acquired knowledge, Professional Education Director Alexander Manso said.
