Dr. Francisco Duran, national director of Epidemiology, said in press briefing broadcast on radio and television that 4,873 new cases of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus were detected in the past 24 hours, 176 less than those reported on Friday.
Some 25,436 patients are clinically stable; 352 are being treated in intensive care; 247 are in serious condition; and 105 are in critical condition.
Some 935 pediatric cases were detected in the past hours, including 40 children under one year of age, 23 under six months and five newborns.
In the past 15 days, 21,059 children and teenagers got infected at a rate of 1,404 per day, Dr. Duran warned.
The expert reported that 6,195 Covid-19 patients were discharged, and now the number of recoveries amounts to 853,971, for a 96.2% recovery rate.
Since March 2020, 887,350 people have gotten infected with the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus in Cuba.
Dr. Duran mourned the death of 48 people in the past few hours, so the total number of deaths since the outbreak of the pandemic in Marcha 2020 rose to 7,534, for a death rate of 0.84%.
