On his official Twitter account, the foreign minister said that this willingness was reiterated at the high-level segment of the 76th session of the United Nations General Assembly, which ended on Tuesday.
According to the minister, current consumption patterns are destroying the environment and undermining global goals reached by the Paris Agreement, which sets up measures for the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.
At the United Nations, on Sept.22, Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel reaffirmed his country’s commitment to fight climate change during a meeting of the Alliance of Small Island States.
He said that developed countries must take on responsibility to support efforts to achieve all peoples’ sustainable development and save the planet from the threats they have caused.
The president also reiterated Cuba’s supportive and humanitarian willingness in the face of those risks.
