China sanctions nine officials for negligence in Covid-19 outbreak

Beijing, Sep 29 (Prensa Latina) A Chinese province sanctioned Tuesday nine officials for negligence and mismanagement of the outbreak of Covid-19 with the delta variant of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, which continues to expand and was described as critical.

The government of Heilongjiang (northeast) imposed measures on party and administrative health leaders in the city of Harbin, where the resurgence of the disease left at least 75 confirmed and asymptomatic cases in a few days.

All were disciplined because their weak response led to the development of outbreaks and a rise in indigenous infections.

Several regions of China are reinforcing epidemiological work, resorting to massive PCR tests and vaccination of even minors because the latest outbreaks with the delta variant make it more dangerous.

This Wednesday, the National Health Commission indicated that the eastern province of Fujian managed to contain a wave, but the situation in Heilongjiang remains complex.

It urged each province to take preventive measures as millions of rail, air and road travelers are expected during the week-long holiday from Oct. 1 to 8.
