The news was confirmed to Jit website, the digital information media of the Cuban Sports Institute (INDIA), by national commissioner Nelson GarcIa, who explained that they were included because they met their minimum B marks, demanded by organizers.
In this case, those included are Daine Pedre, Mayte Gonzalez, Victor Fernandez and Samy Rondon, who will join Lorena Gonzalez, Adrian Navarro, Julio Navarro, Andrea Becali and Daysi Ramirez, the latter are the only ones with A marks in their records.
Regarding the swimming competitions, the sports official stressed that despite the absence of sporting powers like the United States and Canada, the contest will be very tough and of high quality, since Brazil, Mexico and Argentina sent their best athletes.
Cuba has qualified 70 competitors in the women’s category and 97 in the men’s contests, while waiting for new tickets in sports like track and field, judo and tennis.
