Turkey might buy more S-400 systems from Russia

Ankara, Sep 26 (Prensa Latina) Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has admitted the possibility of acquiring more S-400 anti-aircraft missile systems from Russia, local media reported.

After meeting President Joe Biden, Erdogan told the US TV channel CBS that a decision on the acquisition only corresponds to his country.

In the future, no one will be able to interfere in determining which defense systems we buy, their number and the country where we do it, Erdogan confirmed.

When we spoke with Biden, we reminded him that Turkey paid 1.4 billion dollars for the purchase of fifth-generation F-35 jet fighters and we never got them, noted the head of State, who was quoted here by local television.

We requested the supply of US Patriot missile systems, but the United States did not offer anything. If we do not have the Patriot, we must buy such weapons in other countries, he said.

Turkey signed an agreement with Russia in 2017 to buy several S-400 systems, which can hit at least 10 targets at the same time at a distance of nearly 400 kilometers.

The United States threatened to impose economic sanctions on Turkey to force it to cancel the agreement with Moscow and, finally, banned the sales of F-35 fighters to Ankara, although despite the fact that this country Turkey participated in its production process.
